TaylorMade has announced the R9 irons set, drawn up to deliver modern performance and tremendous distance in a more unique package.
Like the Burner irons, the new Taylormade R9 Irons and middle-irons were developed separately from the short irons to promote performance in each club. The result is that the 3 iron through 6 iron are overwhelming long and easy to smash, and the short irons are designed to promote great feel, control and accuracy.
Velocity Control Chamber in the Long and Middle irons
both Taylor made R9 Irons long-iron and middle-iron (3- through 6-) houses a large and fully enclosed compartment put behind the face, below the cavity badge. Named the Velocity Control Chamber AKA VCC, it makes it possible for an immense area of the ultra-thin (2.0 mm) clubface to exist unsupported.
Taylor made Golf calls it a wrap around clubface because it copys like a face that wraps around the top-line and the leading edge, which in turns the face more space to flex and reflex at impact, much like a thin-faced driver.

The VCC makes it easier to launch the ball with the long and middle irons, yet Taylor madeengineers have gone to great lengths to ensure that the R9 irons deliver controlled performance by incorporating Inverted Cone Technology on the inner side of the clubface. In addition to promoting higher ball speed on off-center hits, the Inverted Cone has been carefully calibrated to eliminate hot spots so that ball speed is dominate across the clubface, resulting in keen and consistent distance control in all of the R9 irons.

Increase Your Golf Swing Clubhead Speed With A Golf Fitness Program!

Imagine hitting your driver farther in your 40’s than when you were in your 20’s!
I imagine a few of you are saying, “No way!”
Read this article to be convinced otherwise. I received an e-mail from one of our BioForce Golf subscribers about the amazing change in his clubhead speed.
He wrote in about how excited he was that his clubhead speed had improved to a speed higher than when he was in his early twenties! He stated that currently his clubhead speed is between 105-107 mph, and in his twenties it was 95-100 mph. Go figure!
He related his increased driving distance and clubhead speed to a golf fitness program, a program with exercises specific to improving his golf swing. Not a traditional, pump-the-iron program, but one that promotes a more efficient and powerful golf swing.
He stated that since he implemented a golf fitness program, his flexibility, strength, and power have all increased.
As a result of this newfound “bottle of youth,” he is hitting the golf ball farther, lowering his scores, and enjoying the game of golf more.
The question to ask is, “How do improved flexibility, strength, and power relate to increased clubhead speed?”
First and foremost, we must understand a very important principle. The principle revolves around what actually swings the golf club.
Is it your body swinging the club or the club swinging your body?
Obviously, the answer is that your body swings the club. Keeping that statement in mind, we can safely say it is a combination of two entities that creates clubhead speed.
What two entities do you think I am talking about? They are your golf swing mechanics and your body.
Swing mechanics have an effect on clubhead speed. Optimal swing mechanics develop greater clubhead speed than poor swing mechanics. If you do not believe me, try this little experiment.
Go to the range and pull out your driver. On your first swing, swing smoothly and in control. On your second swing, swing as hard as you can! Which golf ball went farther? I am guessing the first one.
This little experiment just goes to show that the mechanics of your swing have an effect on clubhead speed and distance.
Bottom line on the swing mechanics side of the equation, the more efficient your golf swing mechanics are the greater amount of clubhead speed you will be able to generate.
Now, on to the second part of the equation, your body.
The body supports your golf swing mechanics. If your body does not have the flexibility, strength, or power to swing the golf club efficiently, the ability to generate clubhead speed will be compromised.
And if your body is inflexible, weak, and lacking the potential to generate power, clubhead speed will be a difficult entity to create.
Applying the idea of power to golf can be simply identified through clubhead speed. If the clubhead is moving faster at impact with the golf ball, what does this tell us about the golfer?
The golfer is more powerful, and the ball will probably travel farther.
How can a golf fitness program increase the power production in your swing?
Increasing your flexibility allows you to perform the mechanics of the golf swing more efficiently opening the door for improved clubhead speed.
Increasing your strength and power levels around the golf swing allows your body the potential to generate greater amounts of clubhead speed.
Put these entities together with your efficient golf swing mechanics and you will find increased clubhead speed in your golf game.
Now, aging presents a very interesting situation. As you age, the natural levels of flexibility, strength, and power decrease.
Yes, as you get older the body slows down. The slowing down has an effect on your golf swing.
You do not have the flexibility to perform the mechanics of the golf swing. The lowers levels of strength and power decrease the ability to generate clubhead speed.
In order to reverse the effects of aging and improve your clubhead speed, you need to implement a golf fitness program.
A golf fitness program can slow “the hands of time,” improve your flexibility, increase the strength within the body, and improve your power outputs. You essentially become an ageless golfer.
Bottom line, better flexibility, increased strength and power training will increase your clubhead speed, lower your scores, and you’ll get a lot more enjoyment out of the golf course.

Golf Flexibility Is A Key Component For Senior Golfers

Golf flexibility is a common term among senior golfers. Most senior golfers know they have a declining level of golf flexibility and distance. But why then do most of them not participate in a golf flexibility program?
If you are in this group of golfers, do you walk off the course frustrated with your performance? Are you dissatisfied with your driving distance? Do you seem to have a hard time repeating a good swing for 18 holes?
The answer is right in front of you!
It is a known fact to hit the ball maximum yardage you need a certain level of golf flexibility that will generate clubhead speed and power at impact. This level is such that a golfer can rotate approximately 90 degrees with his upper body, and only 45 degrees with his lower body creating the “x-factor” for top level distances.
It is impossible to do this at a certain age unless you maintain a consistent golf flexibility routine in your daily activities. Muscles that are not used (and/or stretched) lose elasticity and the ability to produce power.
Along with this loss of elasticity is a rapid decline in strength. The results are subpar performances and a lower level of enjoyment of the game. This is why we see so many golfers quitting the game.
Golf flexibility doesn’t have to be a complicated issue. You don’t need fancy, expensive equipment to do an effective routine that will produce the results you want. But you do have to be aware of your specific limitations and what areas you should focus on to maximum your time investment.
Doing a golf fitness evaluation to determine your weak areas is crucial. You’ve got to have some idea of what is keeping you from a better game. Once you determine your personal limitations, you can do some simple golf flexibility exercises to greatly improve this situation.
It’s amazing to see how quickly the senior golfer can see improvement. I’ve seen some dramatic numbers with the golfers of my membership site and customers of my dvds and manual. The emails I receive are so motivating; I ask permission to insert them on my websites as success stories.
The human body is a machine! Treat it nicely and it will do what you want. Mistreat it and the result is ugly. The “use-it-or-lose-it” phrase is a good one. That is exactly how the body responds. With stimulus (exercise) the body responds positively. Without it the decline is rapid.

TIP 1. Putting Games need work on your short putts? One of the best ways is to putt on a dime – it’s great for improving focus and concentration! Another good drill is to sink five in a row from one foot, then from two feet, then three feet, and so on. If you miss one, well you start again, from the beginning. And you can’t go up in distance until you’ve made all five. That should occupy you until tee time.
TIP 2. Pull the Rope! I’ve found that most people with a slice problem cut across the ball on the downswing. To learn the correct path for the clubhead to follow, think of a rope attached to a tree above you. From the top of the backswing, you should feel that you’re pulling the rope straight down. This forces the right elbow to stay close to your side. It also gives your stroke the correct inside path, and improves your ability to swing out toward the target rather than across the ball.
TIP 3. Hold Up the Ball Many golfers let the left knee collapse toward the right on the backswing. This causes your shoulder to drop, and makes your hips sway and overturn. To fix this, imagine your left knee going out toward the target on the backswing. You should feel tension and stability in both knees. Can’t quite get it? Try this: Imagine that you’re holding a basketball between your knees. Give it a try, you’ll be amazed!
TIP 4. Be a Hitchhiker; here’s a good image to keep in mind during your backswing: think of placing your right hand in a “hitchhiker” position. This means that when the club is at waist height, you should be able to look back and see your thumb pointing to the sky. Here’s another trick: Imagine that your hand is in a handshake position, with the palm facing neither up nor down. These simple thought will ensure the beginning of your swing is correct!
TIP 5. Pause at the top swinging too quickly is a common mistake. I’m not saying you shouldn’t swing with power and acceleration – but rather, that you need to maintain a rhythm. The best way to accomplish this is to imagine a slight pause at the tip of your backswing before changing direction and beginning the downswing. Do this and you’ll find your ball in the middle of the fairway more often!
TIP 6. Eye on a dime feeling depressed over your putting? Here’s a simple drill that will put discipline back in your stroke. Place the ball atop a dime, then keep your eyes focused on the dime all the way through your stroke. Avoid the urge to follow the ball with your eyes immediately after impact – especially on short putts. Just watch for the dime, rather than following the ball with your eyes, head and shoulders.
TIP 7. See yourself in the clubface one of the keys to getting out of greenside bunkers is to keep the clubface “open”. When you close the face, you get a lower trajectory and the club tends to dig in the sand. Here’s a trick to help you achieve this: image that the clubface is a mirror, and that you’re going to see your reflection in it at the finish of your sand shot. This will ensure that you take the club all the way to eye level and that you’ve kept it open all the way to the finish.
TIP 8. Check your V’s! Many things can cause a slice, but most often the grip is the source of the trouble. Here’s how to fix it: make sure that when looking down at address, you can see the first two knuckles of your left hand and a “V” formed between the thumb and forefinger pointing toward your right shoulder. With the right hand, have the “V” pointing toward your chin or slightly to the right shoulder.
TIP 9. Bullseye! Three-foot putts can really mess with your mind if you let them. One strategy employed by one of the all time great putter, seve ballesteros, is to imagine a bullseye attached to the back of the cup. This image encourages you to accelerate the putter through to the hole and keep the clubface moving square to the hole.
TIP 10. Shoulder under chin – you won’t hit it thin! Do you suffer from topping the ball or “hitting it thin?” Try to get in the habit of placing your right shoulder under your chin before looking for where the ball goes. This doesn’t mean to keep your head down forever. Let your head move, but let your shoulder be what brings it up after contact. Do this properly and you’ll almost see the club hit the ball.
TIP 11. Step on it! The best way to practice a good weight shift is to step with your right foot over the left after you hit the ball. You should feel as if you’re walking right after contact. After each swing, ask yourself: “where is the weight?” Is it on the right foot, or the left? A proper, balanced position should be 90% on the left foot, and 10% on the right toe. From there, your momentum will naturally carry you to the walking position with right over left.
TIP 12. Hit far with the ball forward your position over the ball should vary according to the club you’re using. For instance, the ball should be in the middle of your stance with the shorter irons (7, 8, 9, PW). As the loft of the club decreases, the ball should be incrementally farther toward the front foot, until it’s just inside the left heel when hitting the woods. Also, remember that if you want to purposely hit lower shots, t;he ball should be back in the sFor higher shots, it should be forward.
TIP 13. Rock-Solid right knee on the backswing, it’s crucial to keep weight on the inside of the right foot, and maintain a slight bend in the knee. Failure to do this can mean poor contact and a loss of power. As you take the club back, imagine that the right knee is braced and solid like a wall. This helps your upper body coil behind the ball, so you can make an aggressive move through it-and really send it flying.
TIP 14. Grip it light on the right in general, you need to keep the right side solid for a strong shot. But don’t let this carry through to your grip. Many golfers tend to grip the club too tightly with the right hand, which leads to unnecessary tension. It can also make you swing “over the top” and cut across the ball. Here’s the fix: check your right-side grip, arm, and shoulder tension before each swing. You should sense that have muscle tension corresponding to a “6″ or “7″ on a scale of 1-10: light muscles are better than tight muscles.
TIP 15. Muscle it! Golf isn’t a wrist game. To achieve a powerful swing, you need to employ the big muscles of the legs and trunk. The common instinct of many amateurs is to hit at the ball with only the arms and wrists. Every once in a while this may connect, but for real consistency and power, use the whole body, not just part of it.
